On this 65th Anniversary of the D-Day landings in Normandy, this memorial is set up in honour of all the young men of the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force who gave their lives in the service of their country and for the freedom of their own generation and subsequent generations worldwide. Approximately 4,400 were lost that day alone. Let us also not forget civilians victims. We will remember them.
